31 Best Hotels in Tel Aviv, Israel

Background Illustration for Hotels

Nothing stands between Tel Aviv's luxury hotels and the Mediterranean Sea except the golden beach and a promenade outfitted with chairs and gazebos. Tel Aviv's hotel row is on Hayarkon Street, which becomes Herbert Samuel Esplanade as you proceed south between the Tel Aviv Port area and Jaffa. Across the street from the luxury hotels are a number of more economical ones. Boutique hotels are becoming more popular and are also centrally located, so you're never far from the trendy shops and outdoor cafés of Ben Yehuda and Dizengoff Streets or the buzzy restaurants and bars of Rothschild Boulevard.

Hotel reservations are essential during all Jewish holidays and are advised throughout the year. Some hotels have parking lots, but a few rely on public lots that can be at least a short walk away.

Hotel Montefiore

$$$$ | 36 Montefiore St., Tel Aviv, 66883, Israel Fodor's Choice
Hotel Montefiore, Tel Aviv
Nathan Dvir

It doesn't get much trendier than this stunning boutique hotel, which showcases what restoration can bring to the historic buildings of Tel Aviv. It also doesn't hurt that its restaurant, which is one of the best in the city, is packed with the beautiful people of Tel Aviv day and night. The two-story building stands out because of its lovely salmon-hue exterior. Its light-color walls, hardwood floors, and wrought-iron banisters evoke times gone by. Each of the immaculately appointed rooms has shelves filled with art books and Persian rugs.

Pros

  • Great service
  • Historic building
  • Exceptional on-site restaurant

Cons

  • Front entrance is not wheelchair accessible
  • Rather pricey
  • Restaurant and bar get packed every night

65 Hotel Rothschild Tel Aviv

$$$ | 65 Rothschild Blvd., 6578512, Israel Fodor's Choice

This sophisticated, beautifully designed hotel harmonizes with the central business location in the heart of Rothschild Boulevard. At eight floors high, it stands tall compared to the surrounding Bauhaus buildings, so a majority of rooms have city-to-sea views. The top-floor open-air lounge is a must for relaxation time with a glass of wine from the complimentary happy hour. A lobby breakfast area doubles as a café open to the public for lunch and light dinner options. Free parking is available at the hotel with advance reservations.

The Drisco

$$$ | 6 Auerbach St., 6811910, Israel Fodor's Choice

The Drisco is everything an upscale boutique hotel should be: elegant without being stuffy, luxurious without being garish, and exclusive without any hint of snobbishness. Steeped in history, the hotel is set in a beautiful building that dates back to 1866. Constructed as a luxury hotel by the Drisco brothers who were among the first American colonists to arrive in Israel, it was later taken over by the German Templers before becoming the British Headquarters in Palestine after the Second World War. Over the years, the building fell into disrepair and finally reopened as The Drisco in 2018 following a decade of restoration and renovation. The result is a charming, small hotel that prides itself on its superb service and intimate atmosphere. Don't miss the on-site George & John restaurant, which has quickly established itself as one of the brightest stars on Tel Aviv's excellent culinary scene. It is situated in the up-and-coming Noga neighborhood, which is technically part of Jaffa, but is actually perched right on the border of Tel Aviv's three coolest districts: Jaffa, Neve Tzedek, and Florentin.

Pros

  • Personalized service
  • Superb on-site restaurant
  • Ideal location, close to Old Jaffa, Neve Tzedek, and Florentin

Cons

  • No pool
  • Small fitness room
  • Rooms on the small side for a five-star hotel

Although guest rooms are on the small side, there are cozy lounge seating areas for checking emails and enjoying the free afternoon happy hour. Request a room with a terrace for a sea or urban view.

Carlton

$$$ | 10 Eliezer Peri St., Tel Aviv, 63573, Israel

This classic five-star hotel on the Tel Aviv beachfront has held up better than many of its nearby neighbors, and its friendly service and casual atmosphere make it a favorite with tour groups. Corporate travelers enjoy its business lounge. The Carlton may be a massive hotel, but its lobby features intimate sitting areas, each showcasing the work of a different artist. Center Chic Hotel Tel Aviv

$$ | 2 Zamenhoff St., 64373, Israel

This member of the Atlas chain of boutique hotels has a cozy lobby filled with books about Tel Aviv and a lounge area that screens vintage black-and-white films about Israel. What the rooms lack in size they make up for with charming balconies overlooking historic Dizengoff Circle. You'll recognize the building from the outside by its larger-than-life statues of two people astride the balcony wall "talking" by means of empty cottage-cheese containers connected by a string—a favorite pastime among Israeli kids in the 1950s. Breakfast is served across the street at the fascinating Cinema Hotel, worth a visit in its own right.

Cinema Hotel Tel Aviv

$$ | 1 Zamenhoff St., 64373, Israel

In the 1930s this was the Esther Cinema, one of the first movie theaters in Tel Aviv. Skip the elevator and take the elegant winding staircase from the lobby to the various floors: when restoring it, the architect left the depressions made by the feet of thousands of moviegoers over the decades. Vintage projection equipment, tickets, playbills, and other paraphernalia give the feel of a truly charming museum. The comfortable guest rooms have black decor and reading lamps that look like tiny spotlights. The hotel has a sunny terrace with a wonderful view of Dizengoff Circle.

Star designer Karim Rashid chose the iconic Polishuk House, a Bauhaus building, for his first venture into Tel Aviv's boutique hotel scene.
