You Can Earn Delta and Marriott Points When You Book a Vacation Home

Your next dream vacation might be closer than you think.

From taking a Lyft to getting your morning coffee, spending can pay off in more ways than one if you like to travel. These rollouts are particularly helpful for those who want to skip credit card usage. Linking airline or hotel accounts to other programs and platforms can go toward the status tiers. Earned points can assist in booking free rooms, member experiences, and more. Many travelers prefer that “at-home” feeling during vacation over booking hotels, particularly for extended stays. However, one caveat to vacation home rentals is the fear of missing out on travel perks like earning points for stays. Delta and Marriott have changed that.

You Can Earn Delta Sky Miles With Airbnb

Although it launched in 2016, Airbnb’s quandaries of egregious booking policies and imposed cleaning fees recently might have overshadowed their partnership. The redeeming advantage for many patrons is the copious amounts of private space, unique home features, full kitchens, and sometimes curated destination guides from the host. And now, you can earn one mile (less taxes and fees) for every dollar spent on qualifying stays. Here’s how to do it:

1. Create a SkyMiles account. It’s quick, easy, and free to do.
2. Visit deltaairbnb.com and enter your SkyMiles number before browsing the site.
3. Complete your booking.

There is no limit on the miles you can earn, but you can only earn miles for Airbnb transactions booked directly through the Delta Airbnb website. If you book directly through Airbnb’s platform, you are not eligible for SkyMiles. It can take up to eight weeks after your completed stay to see your miles in your account.

Say Hello to Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy

Marriott entered the vacation home rental business in 2019 with elevated experiences by offering “premium tier and luxury” style rental homes across the globe. And it’s no exaggeration. On their website, the brand shares: “Guests who book with us have access to a unique collection of private homes, from beachfront bungalows, sprawling villas, grand chateaus, cozy cabins, ski chalets, and characterful townhouses, flats, apartments, and penthouses. We have castles, too!”

You will earn a base of five loyalty points for every dollar (less taxes, fees, and add-ons) spent. Marriott Bonvoy also provides point bonuses based on status level. All elite members can still receive the welcome gift of points at check-in. Here’s how you can book:

1. Create a Marriott Bonvoy account. It is also quick, easy, and free to do.
2. Visit homes-and-villas.marriott.com and enter your Marriott Bonvoy number before browsing.
3. Complete your booking.

While simple to book, The Homes & Villas process does vary slightly from booking a traditional Marriott hotel stay. Most of their reservation book instantly. However, some properties are labeled “inquired to book” or “non-instant book.” Here are the differences between the two:

Non-Instant Book: You will submit a reservation and payment on their website. The property manager will confirm your reservation within four hours.

Inquire to Book: You will share your travel dates and travel plans. The property manager will contact the homeowner to share your details and then contact you with availability and pricing.

It can take three to six weeks to see the points in your count after your completed stay. As an added perk, you can also redeem points for Homes & Villas bookings or take advantage of the “Cash + Points” payment method.

Now, with added ways to earn airline and hotel points, the list of potential destinations is endless.
