Didi not mean to post this, but it's pretty...my last look at Espana, hasta la proxima!  One year I flew over landscapes that looked exactly like those Edward Burtynsky aerial photos...I think those were taken in Aragon...I'll post about these to give an idea of what I'm talking about..

Artistry on the plate, as hackneyed as that sounds.....Carpaccio of Carabineros  (giant red shrimp) topped with trout roe at ANTONIO...I don't think of myself as a crudo addict but this was something else...tasted even better than it looked...will be on my "must order" list for next year..

Sautéed pulpitos....ubiquitous squid dish in Cadiz province..these are exceptionally delicious, as I would expect from ANTONIO.  By the way, this is a family owned and operated restaurant going back several generations.  I suspect its been renovated and upgraded more than once in its time...

VENTA PINTO..Sandwich and snack menu tacked on wall inside bar area....very atmospheric and friendly area..all are welcome and visitors include foreigners like me, grizzly locals, Spaniards on vacation, non grizzly locals--young and old, dressed like farmers and dressed like urbanites..its all great!!!!!

LA CASTILLERIA is tucked away into the pretty rural "barrio??" of Santa Lucia, just past the temples of eggs that I've yet to try, VENTA AL TORO; you can spot that venta past the large tree on the left....already on my agenda for next year, as is LA CASTILLERIA!!

After the salad, a media racion of one exquisite roasted artichoke, stuffed with lamb sweetened by a Port sauce. Incredible dish at a most incredible restaurant. Bag at rear holds picos, like miniature breadsticks; I look for the ones made with olive oil.  They make all-too-good late night snacks and are an Andalucian staple.

This is a close up of that peeled and roasted tomato..I'mm guessing it was roasted at low temperature.....I will certainly order it again and try to find out more....I could go here just for their salads!!

That one had Cecina and when I ordered it again, my lovely waiter suggested that I have something different this time, similar but with "Duck prosciutto" instead of the Cecina.   This tied with last year's for one of the best salads..ever!  Can you see how many ingredients composed this glory?  And how stunningly it is plated?
