This Cruiseliner Is Offering a Multi-Sensory Underwater Lounge Complete With Vibrating Sofas

The Blue Eye Lounge on the Ponant Explorer’s cruiseline is offering a space onboard unlike any other—one that offers passengers an “immersive sensory experience of the subaquatic world.” The lounge sits in the ship’s hull, 2-3 meters below water level, and is equipped with vibrating sofas and a sound system that captures sounds of the ocean. Two giant portholes allow passengers to watch the actual sea life passing by while projections of marine life illuminate the walls. The “body listening” sofas and sound design are meant to enhance the acoustic immersion of being underwater.

Ponant Explorers cruises are smaller-capacity yachts meant to allow for exploration of more diverse locations such as the Great Lakes, the Panama Canal, the Amazon, and the Baltic Sea. More than anything, the Blue Eye Lounge looks like a really good place to have a drink and a chat as you sail through the cool blue water.
