Yuk! ANOTHER reason to bring your own food!

Inspectors find airplane food warehouse infested with rodents
March 29, 2005 — A storage facility for airplane food at O'Hare was shut down Tuesday after city inspectors found it infested with rodents.
Authorities closed Gate Gourmet Storage where airline snack foods such as pretzels, pop and beer are stored.

City inspectors say they found more than a thousand rat droppings throughout the premises. Gate Gourmet was also found to be operating without a business license.

The warehouse will not reopen until it gets a license and passes another inspection.

What I find amusing is people still pay extra for first class for the food;-)

ahhnold, are you serious? I've never ever heard of anyone who takes first class for the food. In fact I know many who only travel first class and always refuse the food. Most people who take it do so for the added room, comfort, and more "privacy".

This post gives the recent switch from pretzels to trail mix a whole new slant!

Thank you, Patrick.
I fly first 95% of the time and I rarely eat or drink anything.
I even take my own water...
It's all about space and comfort!

There WAS no switch from pretzels to trail mix. It just looked like it.

At least noone has bitten into a finger with a nice long nail on an airplane! (that I know of, anyway!)

Hmmm... do they have BBQ there at O'Hare? Is this why it's called "hare"?

LOL, Orcas, that is what I thought of, finding a finger in the salad is kind of stomach turning too.
I am happy that I do not eat plane food, especially those salty things that just make me die of thirst for the rest of the trip.
Bloody Marys are still safe aren't they?

hey ahhnold

I fly first class for the added room, comfort and service - oh yeah and the free drinks in real glasses aren't bad either. Airline food is gross no matter where you sit. Although I do enjoy the hot nuts with a vodka or two

First Class to us is strictly for comfort! I never fly to eat.
I wonder how often those Inspectors inspect. How long was this going on? This was at O'Hare, what about all the other warehouses? Ick ick ick.
