Your ideal iternary: 12-day honeymoon Kauai/Maui (somewhat budget friendly)
Hi Everyone,
So we've decided on Kauai and Maui in late October, and have 12 days total. Very excited! We're looking to spend some time relaxing after the wedding, and then hitting the great outdoors: beaches, hiking, snorkling, kayaking, chowing (both nice and hole-in-the-wall finds). I'd love to hear how long you think we should spend on each island, and what your ideal itinerary would be.
Thanks in advance!

Maui has a lot to see and do. We did the sunrise at Haleakala, snorkeled at Molokini with Triology, did the Old Lahaina Luau, went whale watching (seasonal), did the Road to Hana, and just spent time at the beach in Wailea. On Kauai, our favorite thing was the helicopter tour of the Na Pali Coast, and also enjoyed doing a sunset sail with Captain Andy's, going to the north shore beaches, and going to the waterfalls. The Na Pali coast is the most gorgeous place I've ever seen. I'd maybe do a week on Maui and 5 days on Kauai, but you can play it any way you want to. We spent our honeymoon in Hawaii too! Congrats!

(VG, I was surprised to see you here. I'm used to your postings on the Costa Rica page. Glad you had a wonderful honeymoon.)
I would second everything VG said, and add Waimea Canyon and kayaking on the Wailua River on Kauai. If you have time on Maui add a hike in the Iao Valley area (Iao Needle). If you drive to Hana make sure you continue on and see the falls at Oheo Gulch, one of my all time favorite spots.

Kauai...I'd suggest one of the many budget friendly but still very nice places between the airport and Kapaa.
Central location, inexpensive restaurants, most you can walk to depending on your hotel.
Congrats.
