Baltimore is closest. Philadelphia next. Dulles is farthest.
However, most LAX to BWI and LAX to PHL flights involve a stop. You really have to look for the non-stops.
And you might find better fares to IAD. Virgin America has LAX-IAD fares under $300 round trip

It's approximately 2 hours from Dulles to York PA
And it's approximately 1 1/2 hours from BWI to York PA.
With only a half hour difference I believe I'd find the cheapest nonstop. Have you looked at AirTran or Southwest? BWI is a hub for each with very good prices.

Use WAS to search for all three D.C. airports (BWI,IAD,DCA). I usually find that the fares from LAX are lowest to BWI.
When searching fares from WAS, travelocity sometimes offered MDT as an alternate airport with a lower fare.
United and probably USAir have nonstops PHL-LAX.
