Yo-Ho, Yo-Ho, Disney Pirate Ride

Visited Disneyland today and waited an hour and fifteen minutes to ride the refurbished ,"Pirates of the Caribbean." I've been riding it for nearly 40 years, I thought it was wonderful. Great new robots.

That's so good to hear! I love Pirates. Disney doesn't screw up very often, but I feared they might have when they announced they were adding Jack Sparrow to the ride.

My all time favorite ride! I still remember the first time I went on it as a kid and heard the booms and saw the pirate booty.
Thanks for giving the update!

Is the Blue Bayou Restaurant open as well? My finacee and I went to Disneyland in March and she was crushed that she could not get a Monte Cristo sandwich because of the Pirates refurbishment.

Yes it's open and they've updated the menu. You can check it out on Mouseplanet. Be sure to make a priority seating reservation if you plan to go, and lunch is a better deal.

Please tell me that with all the refurbishments, the hairy leg is still dangling over the bridge at the end of the ride.

I went on this ride at EuroDisney near Paris and a very handsome young pirate worker who was helping load boats was waving a toy pistol at people and telling them to get in the boat...it was part of his character...I just was amazed at the cultural difference...you wouldn't wave a toy gun at Disney in America. The lack of hand gun violence in Europe was apparent! LOVE the pirates!!

So what's different? Did they add Jack and other new characters? Are they promo-ing the heck out of the new movie?!? Those smarties! Nothing like a good movie tie-in to reopen the ride with!

I always loved Pirates at Disneyland more than at Disneyworld just because it had Blue Bayou as part of it. Can't wait to go now that it is open again. Fun times.

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear taht it is still a great attraction. I am going in Sept., can't wait to ride it. Karameli , too funny, I sure hope that hairy leg is still hanging over the bridge, and the dirty feet from the other drunken fellow sitting with the pig, and of course the heavy lady chasing the man around and around....need I go on?

Did you know that once, years ago, the hairy legged pirate short circuited and caught fire? Ride had to be shut down and guests evacuated.

I love the Pirates too, but my all-time fave is the Haunted Mansion!!

Many years ago I went to the Tokyo Disneyland and hearing those pirates speaking Japanese was a hoot!!

swalter~ yes the dogs with the keys inthe mouth is my favorite scene as well. I was very happy to see this same scene in the first Pirates movie! Hmm, Japanese Pirates, now that would be a fun ride!
PM~I also LOVE Haunted Mansion, I love the dialogue they use when shuffling you into the elevator in the beginning..."Please move your bodies to the DEAD center", that stuff is GREAT! I think Haunted Mansion, Priates and Peter Pan are my fav's! Of course Autopia is always good for some exhilarating gas fumes!
