Yellowstone and Beartooth Highway

I am planning to leave Gardiner in early a.m. on last day before leaving from Bozeman and want to travel the Beartooth Highway. Is it possible to travel from Gardiner to Cooke City, along the Beartooth highway to Red Lodge and there take 78 north to I-90 and then up interstate to Bozeman - in one day?

It would be a long day, but if you want, yes, it is possible. I always allow 2 hours for the Cooke City to Red Lodge portion simply because I can't do it without stopping along the way because of the views. I don't recall the time cutting I-90 to Bozeman, but it took me about 3 - 3.5 hours from Red Lodge to Bozeman.

Absolutely do-able. I live in Bozeman and have made a daytime round-trip over the Beartooth at least a couple of times. And that's a lot less travel than you are thinking of.

Have fun!

We were over the BT several weeks ago. There is road construction so expect some minor delays.
