Y'all wish me luck at the Reggae Festival tomorrow!

I am off for DC (Bethesda) tomorrow. As soon as I arrive, I dump my stuff at the hotel and head to Wolf Trap for the Bob Marley Roots, Rock, Reggae Festival 2006.
I have a gauzy hemp shirt I bought especially for the concert
I am gonna take some munchies and water (for cottonmouth).
Headed to Denver Wednesday... YAY!

I am eagerly awaiting this report too - was just thinking about it the other day.

So, which hat did you buy?

"Stir It Up - Little darlin'..."

We've been having a Reggae week-end, it all started with humming a Jimmy Cliff tune.

I survived the Bob Marley Roots, Rock, Reggae Festival 2006.
Not AT ALL what I expected!
Wolf Trap is a great venue with amazing acoustics. They are very easy going with the guests. It is a National Park and is patrolled by volunteers, paid employees and armed park rangers. They will let you drink and eat anything... I mean, you can bring in anything short of a grill. But they do not tolerate illegal substances, including pot. Rangers with guns were eagle eyeing the grounds and I did not get even one whiff! It appeared that those folks were going back and forth to the privacy of their cars to imbibe! Parking is free, by the way!
Cigarette smoking is only permitted in designated areas which was wonderful, too!
The crowd was about 90% white, which surprised me.
Huge percentage of the crowd had Whole Foods picnics and wine with plastic wine glasses. Lots of BMW's, Audi's and Volvo's in the lot.
I must say that this was a really mellow crowd. Almost perfect, in a Woodstock kinda way. People left valuables as they walked around, trusting those around them… kids were welcomed and enjoyed by all. People were politely grooving to the music, many dancing almost in the same spot for 6 hours.
I really liked Ozomatli and Jon Nicholson.
Not sure I would do it again, but it was a good experience!!!

Cool, TxTravel!8-)Glad you enjoyed yourself.
Sounds more like a Stepford reggae concert than a Woodstock one tho!

Yeah, you're right... I suppose I was looking for a way to describe the vibe.
Really trusting, no stress, people zoned out in the music, kids running around, people sharing, safe, etc...

Nah, not Stepford, just all the hippies and 70s rockers are growing up, that's all. Sounds like a nice day for families and fun-loving concert goers. Actually sounds like the N.O. Jazz Fest to me. Glad you had fun!
