Would you trust this hotel in NYC?

I saw this hotel in Quickbook.com, it was built in 2003 and looks very good. It is on 3rd Ave. and 45th st. and the price is very reasonable. One bedroom suit $380. The problem is that one of their phone number is disconnected and the other one only accepts messages. Please let me know what you think.

What hotel? If you list the name, maybe one of the posters has a history with the hotel.

I'm guessing you may be calling a phone number that was set up to arrange reservations before the hotel was open. Do you know if it's actually open now? I did a quick search and found article saying this hotel was scheduled to OPEN in September --- didn't specify a date >>>

Alex Hotel: A 203-room luxury hotel in Midtown tailored for business travelers, with interior design by David Rockwell. The Alex will feature a penthouse space for events. Scheduled to open in September 2003. <<<

First I'd check several websites, call directory assistance to see if they have a different phone number than what you've already tried. Certainly from their website, it looks to be a lovely new place. If your visit isn't scheduled for a few more weeks or months, I'd certainly consider staying there.

I would absolutely book this hotel... in a heartbeat!
Just make sure you are going at a time that it will open! Hotels are notorious for delayed opening dates. This hotel apparently has not opened yet but plans to open in a couple of weeks.

I've actually posted several times about reading about this new hotel Sounds very good. Try calling information & checking the phone number as suggested.

Darn! Tonight had dinner at D'Artagnan on 46th near 3rd, so afterwards thought I'd check out this hotel. But I was doing it from memory and was convinced you had said 46th. I walked all four corners of the block and couldn't see any sign of a hotel. Sorry, I was a block off.

This appears to be something to be a little careful of. The hotel was to open today (I'm a travel consultant and they've been selling rooms) and now they're saying "open in the next week or 2". Probably accomodating people in other SRS owned hotels but I wouldn't count on it for another month. The restaurant won't be open at least until November.
