Would you share a table?

My sharing table experiences have tended to be more positive than not.
But I have had some like BTilke, as well. And the worst was at a tiny table place where the other two (older couple) also acted like I was the invisible man, one almost literally turning his back on me. It was a nice place and ruined my meal. If I was alone, at least I could have read or something. I always have a book handy.
I have liked the several times we have been seated with other families at the Japanese steak house, because I get a kick out of watching the pre-teens enjoying the chef's table grill antics.
