Won 2 free tickets on Jet Blue
My husband won two free tickets on Jet Blue which we have to use by September '08 anywhere JB flies in the US, Dominican Republic, Bahamas or Puerto Rico. We just returned from a 10 day trip to Aruba. We were thinking of going somewhere in May (week before Memorial Day) that's inexpensive (very inexpensive). We tried the islands. . haha but we seem to be headed toward Florida. Minimum/Maximum need beach and nice pool with some things to do. We're pretty laid back. Any assistance would be great. I know this is a slightly broad request given we can literally fly to wherever JB flies, but cost is definetely a factor since the casino in Aruba pretty much sucked us dry!! Thanks for your time.

If you like nice beaches and somewhat reasonable accomodations, fly to the west coast of Florida. Tampa, Sarasota or Fort Myers. All three areas offer barrier islands with great beaches and very reasonable accomodations. The water in the gulf is warm, great for swimming. Some of the islands still have the old Florida feel to it. Laid back, yet enough nightlife to satisfy everybody without the overkill like the Miami, Daytona Beach areas.

Wow! I would go to Puerto Rico! I researched this just last year, and I would make sure to visit Vieques, and go to the illuminescent biobay. I've heard there are only 5 biobays left in the world?? You could rent a place through VRBO.
From pictures, it looks like Puerto Rico has a charm of it's own, and I'll bet you could get a place on the beach.
If you do get to go, please let me know how you like it. I haven't been able to get there yet, but I'm still hopeful.

I was going to suggest Puerto Rico and Vieques too!
If I had a free flight I'd probably go as far as I could!
On Vieques we stayed at Hector's. They have a pool, hammocks and access to a small very private beach. Little kitchette with fridge, coffe maker & microwave very helpful to keep costs down. Overall very peaceful and inexpensive.
Vieques has wonderful beaches and the biobay is a must see. The ferry from PR is cheap.
See the rainforest in PR and spend a night in Old San Juan.

Hey highflyer -- I posted on the airline thread... my husband has a $750 credit w/Delta and we have over 200,000 FFP. If we could find a way to get 2 adults and 4 kids (ages 4-14) to Puerto Rico for almost free (w/credit and FFP), wonder if we could find a place to rent for $1,350 or under (for 7 days)? Do you have any recommendations?
We are looking for somewhere to go, but I wonder if Puerto Rico is a valid option for our budget.

Hi Kippy, you could stay at Hector's for less than that. Check the website www.hectorsbythesea.com
It gets great reviews on Tripadvisor and Hector and Mary are wonderful hosts.
We stayed in casita 2 (coqui) and it was roomy than most hotel rooms for our family of 4. There's a queen sized bed, plus the kids had separate beds (I can't remember if it was 2 sofa beds or a sofa bed and a regular bed).

thanks for the input. He won the tickets in a golf tournament (closest to the hole!). PR sounds great and so does west coast of Florida. Actually JB flies to Long Beach California so that might be another option. Thank you all for yourtime
