ohh bodi wonderful ideas for bad hair days. I have a simply awesome leopard print hat that I did put on in Las Vegas one rainy day that looking back at the pictures was rather nice. The best place for hair I ever had was at the Frontenac in Quebec City. San Diego CA my hair looked oh so bad.

As far as finding a good salon when traveling I will usually just walk around the area and you are almost sure of finding a salon. You can usually just "feel" a good place when you walk in and talk to the people.

So far you've all forgotten one of the most important things. On arrival check to make sure the alarm clock is turned off. I always get the room where the previous tenant had a 4AM plane to catch and the alarm is still set to ON.

Patrick........ that business with the alarm clock....... just happened to me at the Residence Inn in Wilmington in August. I'd just gotten my exhausted granddaughter to sleep, I was just dropping off, and the radio/alarm blasted out right by my head, scared the be-jiminies out of me! >
Had never happened to me before!

That mysterious alarm clock thing has happened to me a couple of times...and I still keep forgetting to check when I first arrive.
Even stranger~ I got an early morning wake-up call one morning that I didn't request. Maddening! >

Marilyn, since you specifically asked me about how to choose which bed to use, I will tell you the principles I always follow: first, look at both beds. Determine if there is anyone in either of them. There are various ways of doing this, some of which involve a flying leap and a fairly solid landing, but you can design your own method. Should you discover that one of the beds is indeed occupied, the next question is whether the occupant is someone known to you. If not, I would recommend sleeping in the unoccupied bed. If, however, the person you discover is actually the person you have been travelling with, then you base your choice on whether or not you are in the habit of sharing a bed with this individual under normal circumstances.
Should both beds be unoccupied, the question becomes far more complex. Perhaps then, the coin toss method would be the best, or if you do not have a coin, consult a psychic advisor because they're really good at stuff like that.

Warning this post may be frightening: last time I checked into a hotel, in the bathroom I found these rectangular soft white things. I looked and looked at all the printed stuff on the desk but I couldn't find out what the white things were for, so I stuffed them in my tote bag & disposed of them in a public trashcan
and then that night when I got back to the hotel there were more of them there.
What would you do about this?
(I did not want to mention them at the desk because I was afraid they would blame me & accuse me of placing the white things in the bathroom, like they usually do.)

Elizabeth, were these white things initially wrapped in paper, and did they go all mushy when you put them in water? Or were they joined together on a sort of rolling dispenser attached to the wall in the bathroom? Without this important information it is very hard to help you with this obviously serious problem.

accompanied by appropriate warning - flying leap could cause damage to bed or individual/objects occupying the bed. Flying leaper could be injured due to presence of other objects in bed (like suprise gift from loving hubby)

Quite right. I was hoping somebody would pick up on my error, which I discovered after posting. The way to solve this is to yell "Yee-haw!" just prior to leaping. This would enable any animate creature to roll to safety, be it human, bunny rabbit, etc. Of course this does still leave us with the question of inanimate objects. Hopefully the bedclothes will provide a sort of buffer, lessening any possible damage to leaper or bed contents.
