Not sure where you live in Wisconsin, but there is a new ferry from Milwaukee to Michigan. West Michigan is a great place to visit! The ferry comes into Muskegon, but I would recommend driving down to Grand Haven, which is about 20 minutes south. There is a great State Park on the beach, boardwalk and shopping. Pick a B&B on the channel, and watch the boats come in for a relaxing vacation.
Since you can take your car on this trip over, you can also drive further south into Holland or Saugatuck. Both are great places to visit as a day trip.

Not sure what to do. We have not been to Door County. We live in the SW corner of the State of WI. Is there anything in particular that we should be sure and do while there? I like to shop, my husband likes antiques, Red Wing crocks etc. Thank you for your input.

You could always start in Mineral Point but that may be too close to home.
Door County is a great choice if you have never been.
If it was me I would consider Minocqua unless you consider that too much of a drive.
LaCrosse and Prarie Du Chein area are in your region and may have the type of things that you are interested in.
If all else fails how about Galena?

To keep the drive short you could stay around the Spring Green area. There is Golfing at the House on the Rock Resort in SG, the House on the Rock itself near Dodgeville, Govener Dodge & Tower Hill State Parks. And you are only about 40 minutes from Madison if you want to venture to the city for a day.
Door county is nice, but I prefer to go there in Jan or Feb, when it is quiet and not as expensive.
Northern Wi is great for if you want outdoors, Slinger, Hayward, Copper River State Park.
I don't know if you are looking for quiet or lots of people, but (and I really hate to open this can of worms) but the dells can be nice if you avoid the heavy tourist traps. The duck rides, the boat trips the indian ceremonies are all nice and you get to see the true beauty of the river. And if you get tired of nature there is shopping, Water parks, Water Shows, Robots, Casino.... and you are only a short drive from Mirror Lake & Devils Lake State parks, Madison is about 40 minutes, and Baraboo Circus World Museum is about 20 minutes.
Let us know some of the more specific criteria you are looking for and we can give you better advice.
