Will I get my $$ back if the planes don't fly

They keep warning us that the terrorists might be up to something around the 4th. Will I get my $$ back from the airlines if they don't/can't fly or must I have travel insurance?

Lila:
Look at the big picture, too many people have too much to lose with the planes not flying. They will fly.

I suspect it depends on the airline. My flight on United was heavily delayed due to mechanical failure and the airline refunded my non-refundable ticket when I decided not to travel.

Call the airline and ask. I bet you are not the first person with that question.

I was scheduled to fly on Sept. 12 last year. Money refunded without problem.
