Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill

We rented this DVD last night. It was fantastic. Has anyone on this board seen these wild parrots?

I have the DVD on my kitchen counter, arrived in the mail yesterday from the rental company. Glad to get the recommendation, and will watch it tonight.

I am a parrot fanatic. For anybody who is interested I have found out and seen first hand that there are wild parrots in the St Augustine Beach, FL area and Fort Lauderdale,
FL. I know there are more in California for instance but I never got to see those. In St Augustine I saw some Nanday conures and in Fort Lauderdale I saw some quaker parakeets. A friend of mine rescued a whole lot of lovebirds awhile back in the Phoenix, AZ area.

There are also parrots in New York. Not all parrots come from the tropics. It's pretty amazing how they adapt and survive.

As you can see by my name I have five parrots and have known about this man for years..he even has a book out.. There are wild parrots in NY and colonies in Connecticut. Mitch1971.. I had heard it was dangerous to rescue wild parrots... especially if you have others at home...

Parrotmom it is probably true that it is dangerous to bring home wild birds if you have some healthy ones at home. I know the wild ones might have any kind of disease but nonetheless my puter friend did rescue and handfeed quite a few lovebird babies and found them all homes. As far as I know her birds were OK. I don't know if I could just leave them to die either but I would take great pains in keeping the two groups separate and wash very well between them. Maybe my friend did that. BTW what kinds of parrots do you have?? I have a female white capped pionus named Tango.

Mitch1971--Have two African Greys (rescued a 17 year old last year who turned out to be a female after a few mnths here..lol), My own grey, is a female, Mellie, Cockatiel (Larry the bird), Dusky Conure (Lucy) and an African Senegal, Godo. Would have done the same thing as your friend.. I now have two cages all set for other bird rescuing...if necessary.

What a very nice parrot family!! I would have liked more parrots but just never got any more. Tango is spoiled rotten. She is 10 years old now, I have had her since she was 5 mos old. She is my baby bird

Yes, I grew up in Orange County, CA and the wild parrots are kind of fun, but EXTREMELY noisy. Anyone who has been around just one of them can only imagine what a flock of 40 - 50 sounds like! They love all the trees in OC, evidently. I was just down there over the 4th visiting my folks and, yes, the parrots are definitely still around!

My two parakeets are so happy and chirpy. It must be a riot to have that many birds in the house!
