This whoel thread incites the question - why do people feel they need to rush in a herd to board, regardless of what order. Except for the few airlines that do not assign seats - you know where your seat is, you know it will still be there, you know they will not leave with you standing at boarding gate. So why the rush to spend a few more minutes on the plane?

TravelDiva, I mean no offense. I have sat in the middle seat in the back row of a United 733 airplane on trips between Denver and San Jose. Those seats do not recline. On several occasions, The person in front of me reclined all the way back, practically trapping me on all sides. I see your point of view too, but I still side with non-reclining seats in coach.

I love these threads because we could all complain about so many things, yet we can't wait to get on the next flight to somewhere!!!!! I hate the kid that kicks the seat, anyone who reclines their seat and I have their head in my lap, and the person who coughs all over me so that I can wake up sick on my vacation. I also like to be able to put my legal sized carry on up top. I always take my favorite clothes on board. I come from a small town and always have to change planes. So, to be assured of having my favorite new things for vacation, I carry them on!!That being said, I can't wait to get squeezed, squashed, and shoved on my next flight next weekend!!! See you all at the airport....

Just thought of this, but maybe one of the above posters said something about it which I didnt read. Maybe the airlines purposely make the boarding process slower because loading the baggage in the cargo hold takes the most amount of time. If the passengers were in their seats ready to go and the baggage people were still "fooling around with the baggage" they would get impatient and start complaining. Just a thought?
