Why critique other peoples responses

Can someone please explain to me why some people feel it necessary to reply to other people's responses instead of the subject matter of the question. You will see 20 responses to a question and 15 of the responses are 2 people going back and forth saying mines bigger than yours. Any comments?

I agree. I was planning a family vacation, which is quite an undertaking, when I got some real snipes for responses. Rather than respond at all, I waited, and some very kind people took care of it for me! MOST people are helpful and polite. Don't let a few spoil it for us! I love this forum...it has saved m e from some awful experiences and helped us enjoy some great vacations!

Seems people like to be right and love to argue. Sad.

The American and Canadian forums are tame when compared to the European one.

You're a moron 'acritic'...and you're wrong about everyone being wrong. Only most everyone is wrong, especially you. Can you really procreate with that thing?

People prone to offer advice/answers are more likely to be opinionated than "read only" users. They're geared to feel their opinion is correct. When others see things differently, they're more likely than the casual reader to want to defend their opinions. This is a forum about both facts and opinions, and as such, bickering is bound to occur.
Try making a pointed statement about what you think is the 'best' religion at a large gathering of people and see what kind of mudslinging ensues.
People are writing opinions here about something they care about and have an interest in. And much of it is subjective. In fact, that's what I like most about these forums...I can find endless facts about travel issues. I want to know the unpublished info...how do different sites AFFECT people...do people REALLY like someplace, or are they just lukewarm. I've gone out of my way to visit places in Europe I wouldn't have picked out as 'special' from the standard travel books, etc, because of the passionate reviews of some visitors...some of which drew controversial replies. I find other people's opinions interesting, and if different from mine, I want to know why the difference exists.

What has impressed me most about this forum is the *lack* of acrimony, for the most part, and the general spirit of good will. If someone is stupid or mean, they get called on it. People here are adults, with opinions that sometimes get heated, but the tone of this travel forum is by and large terrific, and keeps me coming back for more.

There are jerks everywhere. Best just ignore them. There is SO much useful information here. As my mom used to say, "Pay no attention to them, Dear, you'll only encourage them..."

If someone posted something that you didn't agree with, wouldn't you respond to them?

People need to get things in proportion!!! Why critcise other people's responses. We are all here to help each other have a really goo vacation ("holiday" in the UK), not to snipe and be absolutely useless.

PS: I know this is the USA Forum but if anyone wants any info on the UK then post a message and I will do my best. Happy Holidays !!!!

For replier: You can judge the accuracy of my statement for yourself by switching over to the Europe side and doing a search on Stellarosa. Read some of those exchanges and tell me what you think.
