My husband's family is very anti-drinking. I get so tired of the dirty looks from my sister-in-law if I have a glass of wine. Ugh.

The universal answer to those who does not approve my drinking:

I will wake up sober tomorrow, but you will always be ________ (insert any word: stupid, ugly, silly, unpleasant, fool, idiot, depressed)

Here's my list -

- Two guys I worked with had never really traveled before and we all went to San Francisco for a conference. They both believed that you don't tip cab or shuttle drivers since you are already paying for the ride. We argued and argued about this, and there was no winning. The sad thing was everything was on the company's dime - nothing out of their pockets!

- These same two guys only wanted to eat at chain restaurants in San Francisco! SF - The food capital of the world! I ate a lot of meals alone that week...

- I also had a girlfriend who was very, very selective about where she went to the bathroom. No rest stops, no gas stations, etc. Well, we decided to go on a road trip from Michigan to Florida one year and it was horrible. She would announce she had to go, I would find a place, she would go in, then come back out and say it wasn't clean enough, and we'd drive around to several other places until she found one she 'approved' of. Drove me crazy! I can only imagine what she must have thought of me peeing on the side of the road in the middle of the night when no bathrooms were to be found!

- This same girl drank too much one night on the same trip and announced on the way back to where we were staying she was going to be sick. I immediately pulled over so she could and she looked at me in horror - "not here, back at the hotel!" Well, the hotel was at least 20 min. away so naturally, I was a little concerned - it was my car we were in! She actually made it though - impressive.

travel addict, I used to have a co-worker with the same toilet phobia. He was molested by his sitter in the bathroom when he was young. This meant that he would have a panic attack if he ever used a communal toilet. He could only use a public toilet if it was single occupancy.

Whenever we would go to lunch, I would have to stand outside the men's room (and check first that no one was inside) to make sure NO ONE came in when he was in there. You should have seen me yell, "Stop, sir, you can't go in there. There has been a terrible accident and the janitor is cleaning it up now. He should only be another 3 minutes."

Sometimes there would be a line of....

12 angry men.

His wife told me that road trips with him were an absolute nightmare. I can only imagine.
