Which Waikiki hotel?
Hi!
We are looking for a place to stay during stopover in Waikiki. Something that is good for a good night of sleep, clean and comfortable. A view would be nice but not required. Nice to close to some shopping & restaurants too. We have narrow down to these choices:
Waikiki Gateway Hotel
Waikiki Sand Villa
Aston Aloha Surf Hotel
Aston Coconut Plaza Hotel
Love to hear from anyone who have stayed in any of these places. Thanks!

My family almost stayed at the Aston Coconut Plaza. They arrived on Sept 3, checked in, and then dropped their luggage off in their hotel room. They locked their room and left to sight-see for a few hours, only to return and find that their luggage was missing. The hotel is still working to resolve the issue.

Just returned from Waikiki, and I hate to say, you picked a bunch of dumps. Find some others, like the Ohana Waikiki Tower or the Ohana places on Lewers Street, which offer great bargains for the prices.

Those are crummy hotels that you picked. If you are only staying for one night, you might want to try your luck on Priceline. You will get a much nicer property.

If you're looking for something nice, clean and close to everything, try the Hawaiiana Hotel on Beachwalk. It's an older property which is immaculate and well maintained and very lovely. There are flowers, plumeria trees,lots of plants and grassy areas all through it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are inexpensive (about $95 per night), include kitchenettes and are very clean. They even serve complimentary Kona coffee and tropical juice by the pool each morning and they give you a fresh pineapple all sliced and ready to eat after you check in.
This hotel is nestled right in the heart of Waikiki - a block from the beach, 1/2 block from Kalakaua. The Outrigger Reef and the Halekulani hotels are at the end of the block. There are many restaurants within walking distance. The Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center is a block away and the Int'l Market Place is a few blocks down Kalakaua.
