Which theme park to visit?

We will be visiting Clearwater Beach this summer, and would like to spend a day at either an amusement park or water park. Can anyone recommend a park, other than Disney, that would be good for a 6 year old child? Thanks for your help.

Yes, I've looked into Busch Gardens, but it seems like most of the rides are for older children. Are there enough other attractions at this park that would be suitable for a 6 year old? I would hate to go some place where my child could not participate in many of the attractions.

Are you against all Disney? Or just Magic Kingdom?

Either Sea World or the parks at Universal Orlando would be good for a 6 year old.

Since we visited all the Disney parks 2 years ago, I thought it would be nice to see other parks on this trip.

Busch Gardens is not a great place for a six year old. mostly rollercoasters and expensive hot dogs. Go to Typhoon Lagoon(near Disney World) this is a nice, very well landscaped waterpark. No ridiculous lines or screaming kids. There are plenty of places to relax without having too many people crowded around you.

My vote goes to Sea World. GREAT animal shows, I think your 6 y/o would love it.

Busch Gardens has a lot for younger children. I think your 6 yr old will find plenty there. I think over the years they've added some attractions geared towards an older crowd but much of the park is still geared for young children. Sea World is a bit further but a great place for the entire family. I think Universal is for older kids, much of the rides/attractions are loud and scary for younger children.

Check out the website for Discovery Cove www.discoverycove.com - it is a very different water park experience. It is MUCH LESS expensive if you do NOT do the dolphin swim, and your 6yo is too young for that. Your kid would love the aviary, stingray pool, etc.
