Which room type at the Golden Nugget
We are looking at staying downtown this year in Vegas. When I have looked to book a room at the Golden Nugget there are two towers to choose from, North or South. The North costs slightly more. What is this additional cost for? Has only the North tower been renovated, or is it because the South tower is a long walk from the Casino?
Thanks!

Hey hyatt..
I got an incredible rate on Expedia for the Golden Nugget last year for $75 a night along with a $75 food credit and I think it was the South tower which was the furthest away..
Totally renovated rooms but the beds were not the best but I am spoiled..
I didn't find it was that far from the Casino..they were starting on the pool when I was there..
I like this hotel for the food, I like to gamble there and I basically got this room for free..
Love the location too..
What kind of rate did you get?

Golden Nugget is my choice for Vegas. It is a great location and easy walk to numerous casinos. I think the main reason south tower is cheaper is the walk, which I do not find bad. Entrance to south tower is right acroos from parking garage so when you come back at night you do not have to go into front of casino. Join the private arrangement and you get points for stay and do not have to be a big gambler to get free rooms. I don't think you will go wrong for a down town location .

I have stayed at the Golden Nugget twice and it is my absolute favorite place to stay in Vegas. I like that it has a lot of cheap gambling and dining options near by as opposed to the strip where you have to walk a zillion miles to get anywhere and are unable to find an open $5.00 blackjack table to save your life.
I have stayed in both the South and North tower rooms. The north tower room I happened to get because they were out of south tower rooms when I checked in. In my opinion I don't know if it is worth the extra money to get a north tower room. The north tower room was in a slightly closer location to the casino but slightly farther from the parking garage. The rooms in the north tower a slightly larger and a bit nicer than the south tower, but I do not think nice enough to justify the extra price. If I were you book the south tower room, and I am sure you will not be disappointed.

You've got my vote for the south tower. I've been staying at the Golden Nugget for about 20 years and have only stayed in the north tower one time. It's not worth the price. Besides the excersize will do you good walking to south tower.
