Nope. I've gotten so much out of this site from others' suggestions, I just thought I'd try and help...

We did this cruise on the Coral Princess about 4 years ago and had a marvelous time.

If you have not found CRUISE CRITIC website, start looking now. You can "meet" other cruisers on your ship, and get lots of great ideas about shore excursions,

I planned all of our own excursions, none thru the ship. We did whale watching with Capt. Larry in Juneau, the flew on a helicopter landing on a glacier. Breathtaking. We did the White Pass/Youkon Railway in Skagway. And used Island Wings (I think) to fly on a seaplane to Anan Creek to see bears up close and personal doing their salmon feeding.

Also had a good time visiting Red Dog Saloon in Juneau.

Bon Voyage, you will have the trip of a lifetime.

higherflyeron, I am thinking about using the company you talked about and was wondering how your tours went with them? Thanks

Hi Floridajourneygirl,
Are you also with Liquid Alaska Tours?

I would avoid this company at all cost.

One thing to keep in mind -- if you book the tours with the cruise line --- they will hold the ship for you in case you don't make it back on time. If you go off the ship and book cruises or rent a car -- and you are late the ship will sail on time -- if you are not their it will sail without you.

I have been to Alaska 4 times and love it -- and will go back at the drop of a hat --- but some of the recommendations I would have --- Juneau take a helicopter and land on a glacier -- and hike on the glacier -- this is awesome. Take the White Pass Railroad trip mentioned above -- you get a good idea of what the original gold miners had to put up with. Do the totem pole mentioned above. Whale watching is a must --- one side trip which I don't know if they offer it anymore is a trip out of Anchorage -- taking a jet boat up a river to the 20 Mile Glacier -- you get within feet of the glaciers and go between huge pieces of the glacier that broke off. Denali take the long trip in the park with the bus -- remember you will see animals if they want to be seen -- if you don't see all of the bears, whales, etc. don't be disappointed -- the scenery is fantastic. Have a great trip.
