Which area of Maui to stay Wailea-Makena or Ka'anapali - Lahaina?
Does anyone have any suggestions on staying in Maui at either Wailea-Makena or Ka'anapali - Lahaina. I am going in October.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Depends what you're looking for. I enjoyed Lahaina because I like to be able to walk around, hit the tourist shops, take the historic self-guided walking tour, have a large choice of restaurants and bars, go to some shows, like that. For others Lahaina is "too touristy" or honky-tonk (as my Dad put it).

Personally I would base the decision more on the hotel than the location. That said: we LOVE Wailea and will always stay there when in Maui. It is quiet, luxurious, secluded and still not too far to take side trips up to Lahaina, etc... We love the Four Seasons there.
Since all of Maui is beautiful you may want to look closely at what the hotels offer and then think about location. But if you are into being able to walk to everything then Wailea is not for you.
