Which airport for northern Sonoma?
We are planning a trip to Sonoma Valley, specifically Healdsburg, in October. Can someone familiar with the area tell me whether it would be better to fly into Oakland or San Francisco airport?
Thanks!

I'm assuming that you are renting a car to get from the airport to Healdsburg. The Sonoma Airporter only provides service to and from SFO.
Both would entail about the same driving distance. You'd be OK flying in and out of either. The difference is that you would be crossing the GG Bridge if flying into SFO and the Richmond Bridge if flying into OAK.

depending on the time of day it would be 6 of 1, half dozen of the other. You could also consider flying into Sacramento. It is only a little farther than Oakland or SFO, but the drive can take about the same time or even a little less.
Go into which ever one gets you the best airfare.

I live in Sonoma county and fly out of both airports, which are served by the same shuttle company, reachable on line at airportexpress.com. The SFO schedule is hourly, but the Oakland one is every two hours. Friends prefer Oakland because car rental is easier and the traffic is a bit less on the freeways. Either airport is a good choice until they reopen the Sonoma County Airport!
