where would you stay in Vancouver?

Please suggest a very scenic and romantic hotel or b&b in Vancouver for mid July.

The Pan Pacific is right on the harbour facing the north shore mountains. The Sylvia Hotel faces the beach.

Marla, Canada has a separate board. You'll get better answers there.

Unless, of course, you're talking about Vancouver, WA.

If you're talking about Vancouver, B.C., Canada, a very romantic place is the Wedgewood Hotel in downtown Vancouver. Two other romantic hotels are the Sutton Place Hotel and the Hotel Vancouver--both also in the heart of downtown Vancouver.

A must - The Granville Island Hotel. We stayed at this hotel and the room was beautiful. You won't be sorry. The market and shops on the island are within walking. Dont't miss the "float homes" along the water. The web site is www.granvilleislandhotel.com.

Marla-the Sutton Place Hotel is wonderful- infact, sometimes they have an entertainment book coupon special- we stayed there 2 years ago--it is a very upscale hotel right around the corner from all the restaurants and shops in Vancouver-would definitely stay there again!

I just came back from Vancouver, where I spent a night at the Granville Island Hotel. It is wonderfully located, but it's currently under construction -they're building an addition - so be aware that there will be noise and disruption during the day. The only other problem is that the traffic on Granville Island can be very difficult to deal with, so if you have a plane to catch or need to be somewhere at a particular time, allow lots of extra time. Having said that - I'd opt for the Wedgewood - it's a glorious place, much quieter than Granville Island and to my mind, more romantic.

Both the Wedgewood and Sutton Place (nee Meridien, the Air France chain) are very nice places. Book early.
