Where would you open a B and B?
I know, first you will say, "why would you do that, so much work..." BUT, if you were going to open a bed and breakfast, where would you do it? Location plays such an important part of the business. Lots of towns are not B and B spots. Just getting ideas! Thanks!

Okay, I have a more constructive idea. Friends/ acquaintances who were in the hospitality business for years opened a B&B in a very scenic area - but get their steady, support-the-business clientele from football fans who book the B&B during college football weekends, parents' weekends, etc. The university is about 30 miles away. That business is their "bread and butter" so to speak.
They also cater and host monthly meetings in the small town - Rotary Club, Garden Club, etc. I've booked the inn for special events in conjunction with conferences nearby and they've done afternoon wine and cheese receptions for me.
Both of the above ideas bring $$$ from different sources than typical leisure travel business.

good info. starrsville. Great points about a university town.
What I was getting at also is you know how some towns are b and b towns where there are many bed and breakfasts and they are popular with tourists such as Camden, Maine. Other places, not so much, or tourists would rather stay in a hotel, such as Las Vegas. I think a b and b would get lots more business in Santa Fe than Dallas, but just wanting to know of thoughts others might have.
