Where to take nephew to dinner OAHU

Some background, first we both live here in separate apartments, different sides of the island. I have lived here longer, he is in the military and will deploy to the middle east.

More background, MY EGO. I am the older aunt and he is the Annapolis grad that is already making more money than me!!!
I would like to show him a great meal that he would not have been able to find on his own. BECAUSE AGE COUNTS FOR SOMETHING!!!

So far thinking Chev Marvo, anyone want to weigh in?

I'm thinking Mavro will be a little too stuffy. How's about giving the sailor a nice steak at DK's? Love their dry aged steaks.

HI Sarah!

Is he really into gourmet foods, obscure meats, wine? Then yes, Chef Mavro will be good. I've just never been able to do all the exotic meats there, and my husband doesn't normally eat any meat, so obviously it isn't for us. check the menu online and see if it appeals.
I'd be more inclined to go somewhere like Alan Wongs, 3660, Le Mer or Alan Wong's Pineapple Room (above Macy's Ala Moana). Or really impress him with someplace local...Ono Hawaiian food, Seoul Garden, or the terrific French place across from Town in Kaimuki (blanking on the name at the moment...)

That is an idea coconut but I do think he likes food a bit more than just steak....what is DK'S was thinking kindcaids at first, what is DK's? Is that the entire name.

Not sure Lcuy think he might be a chip off the old aunt's block because every time I see a photo he sends home from Asia (while at sea) he is in front of a menu, sitting at a dinner table etc..

Not married to Marvo, just always wanted to go there myself ! Again thinking from my ego too .

Then I'd go to Mavro!
And write us a report afterwards.
