Where to stay in San Fran for best location?

Check out The White Swan. Our stay there last fall was great. It is within walking distance of almost everything but also close to cable cars. Many good, reasonably priced restaurants near by. It is a small hotel with a nice breakfast included AND, best of all, fresh free cookies all day long!
