Where to stay in Nantucket?

My husband and I are planning a trip to Nantucket in August for our second anniversary. We are looking for a place to stay that is in a good location, clean and charming (not too much to ask is it?) Many of the places I have called are already booked but the Anchor Inn has a room at a great rate. Does anyone know anything about it? I would really appreciate some suggestions.

I've never stayed there; but, I've seen the place from the outside. It looked clean and relatively charming. Most places on Nantucket are charming. And, because the island is rather small, just about every B & B is centrally located.

Our family has been going to Nantucket every summer for the past 16 years and it is our favorite place in the world. Now that we have a family we rent a house, but about 12 years ago we stayed at the Anchor Inn and it was lovely. Very clean, charming and great breakfasts. It is still owned by the same couple. We stopped in to say hi a few years ago and the Inn looked better than ever. You won't be disappointed. If they are booked try Cliff Lodge, Century House, Jared Coffin House, 76 Main Street or the Centerboard. We've stayed at all of them over the years. (We sometimes take a long weekend in September without kids). You almost can't go wrong on Nantucket. It's a very special place.

Oh Vera, I just remembered, not all of the rooms at the Anchor Inn have private baths. Make sure you ask before making a reservation. We're heading there next week as soon as school lets out, let me know if I want me to get info on anything for you. Enjoy

thanks for your reply! I did ask about a private bath and they do have a room with a private bath/shower. It looks like thats where we will be staying!
