need help planning flying routes
Hello,
I'm trying to determine the best
airline(s) and route of connections to
fly out of Orlando to either Fresno
(for Sequoia) or Great Falls, MT
(for Glacier NP).
When I keyed in my starting point
as Orlando and either of the destinations
above, I got staggering prices in Travelocity
because it uses the same airline for all connections.
What are the best intermediate stops
and routes from Orlando that would yield
the lowest fares? I may have to switch
airlines in the connections to do this.
Thanks for any help!

Going to MT last year, to Great Falls in fact, we went through the same agony, and ended up going through Salt Lake City on Delta out of Dulles in DC. Our price per ticket was $537. Horrible!!! For an Orlando origin, just don't know, but would suggest you look at polanes into SLC and a change there. Boise, Idaho might also offer something, and perhaps O'Hare in Chicgao or Minneapolis. Is Amercian you major carrier in Orlando? If I were you I'd call airlines and see if the agents can help you. Good luck. Ciao

Should you fly to either place you are going to have to rent a car to get to your final destination. You could probably save a considerable amount in airfare if you went to a major city - LA or San Francisco, for example. You rent a car and while there are more miles to drive you could expand your trip. Some years back I took a 7 day cruise out of LA. I combined that with an auto trip of one week. Rented a car in LA and visited in this order:: Sequoia/Kings Canyon, Yosemite, Death Valley and Joshua Tree NP.

Fresno's airport is pretty limited. You can access it through flights from LA or Las Vegas and others. Check out the airport web site www.ci.fresno.ca.us/flyfresno/. Are you renting a car or getting from Fresno to Sequoia by way of Fresno residents? If you're renting a car and driving yourselves to Sequoia, mapblast indicates that it's a 2 1/4 hour drive while out of Burbank it's a 4 1/4 drive. Is the 2 extra hours in the car too much to save you from the connecting flight to Fresno? Being from CA two hours is not much but to others it might seem like an inordinate amount of time.

Southwest has low fares from Orlando to Burbank depending on when you're flying. Check it out at www.iflyswa.com.

The cheapest fares are onSouthwest.
Orlando to Sacramento, rent a car drive down to Fresno and on to Sequoia. Cheaper than trying to fly in to Fresno.
SWA also flies into Salt Lake City and to Boise then rent car and drive to Glacier. The best prices on SWA are to purchase at least 21 days in advance.Good luck....
