The Getty Malibu? We were required to show our reserved parking receipt to get in (day before Thanksgiving 2014).

Old thread or new, things have changed slightly at Getty Villa (Malibu). Now, they require a timed entry ticket for the Villa which is checked at the parking entrance. If you arrive by bus, the driver must hole-punch your entry ticket (what a quaint image that is) and if you arrive by taxi, you need a taxi receipt.

If you visit the Getty Center the same day, you can get a "Pay Once, Park Twice" coupon at the info desk at either venue.

What is new? You always needed a reservation, as far as I know, after the Villa reopened in 2006.

You used to need a "parking reservation," but now you need a "timed entry ticket." You still pay for parking but not admission to the Villa.

Maybe more people are coming by bus/taxi/Uber, and crowd-control-by-parking-reservation isn't working anymore. Hence the switch to timed entry ticket.
