Where to stay in Las Vegas?
Please help me decide where my family should stay when we visit Las Vegas for 3 nights next spring. We have 3 children, ages 10 - 14 and would like a nice pool area. We are focusing on the Mirage, Luxor, Mandalay Bay and Monte Carlo but are open to suggestions. THANKS!!

A great web site for Las Vegas is at www.lvol.com which stands for "Las Vegas on Line".
We stayed at the Monte Carlo and found it very child friendly with a food court that included McDonalds, a pool that included a "continuous river" and a wave pool, and a lobby that allowed you to go from the front door to the room without going to through the casino. The kids also enjoyed the Lance Burton magic show in house.
Be sure to include a tour of the Coca Cola museum across the street, it is a lot of fun, as is the arcade attached.
Finally, we had a fabulous tour of the Hoover Dam (make advance reservations for the "hard hat" tour). The visitor center there is a sight to behold itself.

Hi Jan,
agree with the Mirage statement. Not for kids. Luxor is an excellent choice. Our kids love that place. And one bonus with the Luxor is you can go through the above street ramp to the Excaliber which has some neat things for kids and has a in-expensive and delicious breakfast buffet. My husband and son loved the all you can eat Eggs benedict. Have to admit, it was very tasty. enjoy

We have stayed at Monte Carlo with the kids and that worked out fine. One warning though - they charge $10 per day per person (!) for those tubes the kids float around in! We had 3 kids and that $30 was enough to keep us away from the pool more than a day or two! Besides that Monte Carlo was nice - very kid friendly. Have fun!

I just got back from Las Vegas in May with my wife. Tried to tour all of the hotels. And my wife and I both agree, why would you want to take your children there? There is nothing for them to do, except hang out next to a pool. If you want to go, leave the kids home, forget the advertising Las Vegas is not meant for kids!

Try MGM Grand with kids. They even have an activity kids center you can pay and leave the kids for a couple of hours. My granddaughter loved it and it was very nice and safe. They also have a nice amusment park and lots to do for children. Wonderful pool area.
Good food.

Stupid response.
Everyone knows there is no one perfect hotel for EVERYONE!!!!!
Personally I don't like Treasure Island at all. It was highly competitive in its era (when it opened). It's now clearly second tier.
The wave pool at Mandalay is great for kids. The amusement park at MGM is a plus. Mirage is OK for kids, but a little less kid-friendly. Luxor's pool isn't as good as some of its neighbors, but it's an entertaining place.
