Where to Stary in Fort Lauderdale

The age-old question: how much do you want to spend? For being right on the beach, my selection would be the Marriot Harbor Beach. Most of the other hotels are across the busy A1A from the beach -- illusions of sleeping with the windows open and hearing the surf are shattered by the constant roar of traffic and boom boxes. The Sheraton Yankee Clipper would be my second choice, but you might have a hard time getting them to confirm being in the beach building as opposed to one of the buildings across the street. The hotels right on the beach north end of Lauderdale are not as nice or as good a location as far as I'm concerned (the above two are south end).

Linda,
I've stayed at Lago Mar. It's wonderful. Log on to lagomar.com to learn more. I think most of what you will want to know is there.
This is a family owned resort, and very well run. I first learned about it from my physician, who has very discriminating taste.

I stayed at Lago Mar and it is absolutely wonderful. It is right on the beach with views to die for. The pool is spacious and tropical-like. The rooms are large and are very clean. There are many wonderful amenities for families. I would love to go again!
