Where to spend a relaxing weekend near Washington DC

Hello
My parents are doing a hectic 2 week road trip around the Carolinas in September. They will be flying back to Ireland from Washington Dullus Airport. At the end of their trip they would like to spend a relaxing week somewhere within an hour or two from Washington, preferably near the water. I would really appreciate if anyone had any ideas for a town or hotel that would be suitable.
Thanks

Depends on how you define "relaxing"...they could go anywhere from St. Michaels, Maryland to Rehoboth Beach and be less than 140 miles from Washington.

Beach View Hotel at Rehoboth Beach DE. Not fancy, very clean, reasonable price, free breakfast, wine and snacks in the afternoon and warm cookies in the evening. 20 steps from the boardwalk. We've stayed there for years when we visit Rehoboth. Free off-street parking. http://www.beachviewmotel.com/
