Where to snorkel?

We wanted to know where the best snorkelling is, in Maui or Kauai? We've never been there, but absolutely love snorkelling. Also, are there all inclusive hotels in Maui or Kauai? Thanks for any info.

I have never heard of any all-inclusives on either island. There are several great places to snorkel in South Maui. Consider looking for accomodations in the Kihei or Wailea areas...

My favorite activity while cruising or island hopping is snorkeling. Most of my snorkeling experiences have been in the Caribbean and the South Pacific. We will be visiting Maui for one week in May and since this will be our first time on the island, I have been looking for a good snorkeling guide for Maui and Lanai. Yesterday, I received a copy of "Snorkel Maui and Lana'i" by Judy and Mel Malinowski and I haven't been able to put it down since. Wow, what a great guide! This guide covers 67 top snorkeling sites with 39 detailed maps to get you there fast. It also provides some great information on snorkeling safety and how to properly read sea conditions to help find the right snorkeling site on any given day. Most of my snorkeling experiences have been behind the protection of a reef, so I had no idea that on Maui, considering the direction of the swell is important when selecting your snorkeling site for the day. The guide's "Maui Snorkeling Sites at a Glance" section rates each site by quality and entry degree of difficulty. This section also includes notes on each site and references to whether or not each site provides a sandy beach, restrooms, showers, picnic area, and shade.

I'm sure that this guide is available at many book stores. I got mine through amazon.com.

Anxiously waiting to get my flippers wet.

POipu Beach is a great place to snorkel on a Kauai. ALos the beach outside of the Princeville is excellent. NOt sure about Maui. I would assume almost any beachin Kauai is good snorkeling.
