Where to go for Feb. B-day

I'll be turning 50 in Feb and we (husband and I)decided to get away for 4-5 days. We live in Chicago so we probably want to get away from the cold but don't necessarily need a beach. Budget...would be....special occasion nice but not crazy expensive.

I turned 50 last February and we flew to Maui for an extended weekend. It was great! We had warm weather, and it wasn't too crowded, You might find a good deal right now through some of the hotels that will offer airfare too. I think it was around 1200.00 and we used our miles to upgrade to first class on United. We left on Thursday and return Monday and stayed at the Westin. It was just the right amount of time to relax and have fun.

I'm sure there are closer "beach" destinations to you (we live in California), but I truly feel Hawaii is the place to go to celebrate your big FIVE OH!

Have fun!

I'd consider San Francisco (mild weather, interesting neighborhoods, great food, good deals on hotels) or New Orleans.

New Orleans - Mardi Gras. Hotels are still reasonably priced, even during Mardi Gras, and the weather is generally pleasant unless there's a cold snap. Mardi Gras is Feb. 24th this year so the 20th through 24th would be a good time.

If you want less crowds and cheaper hotel rooms, choose the weekend before (12th-16th) when the rates will be more affordable but there will still be plenty of parades and activities.

By the way, I can think of no better place to celebrate 50 years than New Orleans at Mardi Gras time!

Congrat's on your upcoming birthday!

I would do a 5* hotel in either Vegas, Maui, Bahamas, San Diego, Cabo..they have last minute deals.
5 day cruise from SD to Mexico..some really great deals right now on cruises...less than $300pp.ocean view/balcony for 5 days

If you do Vegas..Wynn has a special of $109 and its a 5* gorgeous hotel and room..spa, golf and great restaurants.
Check Expedia..or direct

We are taking my daughter to Vegas for her 21 in May so that's out. I keep thinking about Hawaii but it is 9+ hours from Chicago. San Francisco is a great idea and maybe driving to big sur. I'm also going to check the cruise idea. Thanks everyone.
