Where to Go????
Two free airline tickets...one week vacation the first of April...husband and I celebrating our 25th anniversary...Have already visited most major cities...need to keep costs down...Like quaint, outdoor activities, history/sightseeing, nature. Further the better from California, but would consider that special place in the west...have visited and liked the Keys, Nantucket, San Juan Islands... Have looked at some cruises leaving from Flordia, but have already been to Nassau and the Bahamas.

Do not go to South Padre Island!! I live in Texas and have all my life (very rare now to find us). Trust me do not go there. I do not envision a 25 year anniversary there. It may be great for the locals because it is close but not coming from out of state. Sorry B

some ideas:
Quebec City, Fairmont Chateau Frontenac
Cape Ann, MA , someplace in Rockport or Gloucester
Berkshires, MA , around Lenox/Stockbridge
Providence, RI, downtown at either the Biltmore or Westin
(note: hotels mentioned are usually not cheap, but it is possible to find special rates for them)

Destin Florida is a beautiful community in the FL panhandle on the Gulf of Mexico. If you go in mid to late April it will be between the spring break and summer seasons, and you might be able to find pretty good prices. I think the beaches there are the prettiest anywhere. Try www.abbottresorts.com for condo rentals. The airport that serves Destin is Fort Walton/Valparaiso (the code is VPS). The drive from there to Destin is around 30 minutes. The website I mentioned also has virtual tours of the area, go to the Topsial Hill State Preserve virtual tour for a good idea of what the beaches look like.
