Friends of mine said that their favorite restaurant during their two-week-long holiday last winter was this one; curious if anyone else has been and if you care to comment:

We love Sanibel! Going down for the 5th time in the last 4 yrs this Sept, which is a great time of year- no, none, zero crowds! We are a bit of Foodies, so eating out is not our thing- we rent a townhome and cook. However, we've enjoyed Doc Fords and that Italian place on Periwinkle close to the main entrance road from the causeway (sorry name escapes me). I like Island Cow for breakfast, and if you need a slice of pizza (seriously!) Island Pizza is quite good. We tried Lazy Flamingo once (where San & Cap meet) but was crowded, slow and we left- this was in Nov. Don't know much other eateries- though the ice cream place up near the Sanibel lighthouse is great! Sanibel Krunch can't be beat! And btw, October is also very nice. Enjoy!

That's the thing about asking for recommendations, everyone has an opinion. The restaurant at the Sanibel inn, I want sure of the name but I know it was still there or at least it was in December when we were last there. Anyway our family liked it. And the island cow is always packed so there must be something to it. Then again a few people have recommend Sweet Melissa and I didn't enjoy. Went as far as posting a negative review on trip advisor. To each there own. Good luck.

I recommend Over Easy Café for brkfst, Sanibel Grille has amazing grouper, also had crab cakes at the Sandbar restaurant, had drinks at Doc Fords, was going to have dinner but the wait was too long. We tried the Sanibel Fish House for the first time this summer and their grouper was pretty amazing too.

We love Schnappers Hots for a casual meal. Great hotdogs, fresh cut fries and good fresh fish.

Thanks for your input. I think we will have plenty of places to try out when we go to Sanibel in October. I can't wait.

I don't know. What was your comment that you added to a 3 year old thread?

Well, if you were indeed making a number of suggestions about Sanibel dining and not just registering here to advertise a specific business (which happens a lot, by the way), then I'd suggest you start a new post "recommendations for Sanibel dining". Since you were giving advice to someone who was asking for a trip over three years ago, your information would be much better directed to everyone.
