For the Crown Room/Hotel Del - worst case scenario - you could also probably just show up - and put in your name and then take a walk down on the beach, etc - while you pass the time. They also have a bar type area where you could order some bubbly before breakfast - or maybe one of you could wait there for your seating - and call the others on the cell to come back up from the beach?

An "uplifting" morning for sure - and then maybe a nap?

There are also fun places on Coronado if you can't get in there.

Thanks for the Crown Room suggestions. Open Table did not show any availability so I called the hotel.....and we are in! Brunch guests have access to the Easter Egg Hunt so I am covered. It is quite a splurge and I doubt we will do it again, will be a treat.

You will love it! It is a treat, but don't be surprised if you come back again for it

How fun! It will be a wonderful day. The hotel is truly an amazing place with a wonderful history. You can go downstairs where they have shops and some of the window displays have historical information about the Del which was built around the 1880's.

When I was a child, we'd often see famous people who were staying there such as many presidents from the US and other countries, along with movie stars. In fact "Some Like It Hot" was filmed there.

ftt, you might want to rent bikes later on. About a block away is Hollands Bike Shop and you can rent bikes. You can bike along Ocean Blvd and see the beautiful mansions or just head out along the side streets. Coronado is very flat so there are not hills or tight curves to worry about. I would ask them if they have a map of the island and if they can suggest a route.

Glorietta Blvd has some beautiful homes as well.

We liked this Italian restaurant in the gas lamp area. We went there, because we'd been to their Florence location:

Acqua Al 2 Ristorante
322 5th Avenue
San Diego CA, 92101map
619 230-0382
The original Acqua Al 2 came to life in Florence in 1978. Over the past 31 years the restaurant has become an intimately loved dining establishment by world travelers, local Florentines, and international celebrities. We bring to San Diego the creative Tuscan cuisine and warm hospitality that has made the restaurant famous. Acqua Al 2, in San Diego, uses exactly the same menu as the original restaurant. The Executive Chef, from Florence, spent seven months in San Diego training the staff in the recipes and techniques. The owner, Martin Gonzalez, also spent a year working in the kitchen in Italy. We invite you to sample our authentic cuisine right here in San Diego.

taber -I have been by Acqua Al 2 ("doo-A") any number of times on the way to baseball games at Petco Park - and even spoken with the owner, etc -but we have yet to take advantage of dining there. Hope to soon.

And hope the Easter Brunch is great at the Del. Forgot - they do have an Easter Egg hunt for the wee ones.
