where is Pomona
We are driving down the coast over Christmas and I have learned that there is a Cirque Du Soliel show in Pomona. How far from Santa Barbara or LA is Pomona? I guess I am really looking for time rather than mileage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First: mapquest.com used to be useful. They've actually de-contented the site and it's much less helpful now. For one thing, they used to allow you to search for landmarks by name (ex. Disneyland) rather than by address or intersection (why do you think I'm on mapquest, Chester?! I don't know the address. I'm still looking for the perfect map site....
Second, Pomona is indeed east of LA. Without traffic snarls, and not during rush hour, you're talking some 45 minutes from West LA (OK, this is a fantasy-- but true if it's 3 AM). Say you leave Santa Monica at 5 PM on a Friday-- you MIGHT hit Pomona by 7 PM (traffic can be that bad).
A straight drive from Santa Barbara will be 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

This doesn't answer your question about the distance to Pomona, but the Cirque du Soleil website does give some directional information.
We're going to see the show (Varekai) the following month at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
We just saw Alegria in San Francisco & have seen 2 other shows, including Varekai). IMO Varekai is the best (so we're seeing it again!). (Have not seen "O.")
