Where is Kal?

***kim***~ Kal is the reigning King of Kauai, plus beer afficianado, homecoming King, quarterback of the Fodor's team, chief of the coconut brigade, Michelin(tire) food critic of all Hawaiian restaurants, and wears many more hats(I suspect he has that helmet with double straws for mass yeast and hops doses). Also, he clearly adores his wife, so now you have an overall idea. It's just my opinion tho... J.

iceeu2, funny you should ask that question. In about 10 minutes I will be changing my reservations. We were going to spend 2 days in Oahu, 7 in Kauai, then last 2 in Oahu. I just had a brain spasm and decided it would be better to first 7 in Kauai then last 4 in Oahu. Maybe we could have drinks on the 27th?

Muffin, a he huh? I never would have guessed. I thought Muffin was some old broad with the beginnings of dementia.
This place would be pretty boring without the likes of Kal around to keep it entertaining...

Scarlett, I picture you just as your namesake Scarlett O'Hara sitting on the lawn at Twelve Oaks with a dozen handsome suitors swooning over you. In no way shape or form do you have dementia in this scene.

Faina.. that is funny. I have never been to a Fodor's gtg, though I have hopes for the Napa area in the future. I was surprised that Kim didn't seem to know who he was, despite the "homage" paid to him frequently. Btw, what DOES he look like? Kal, do not reply. I want to see if my mental picture is aaccurate. I have two tv characters in mind, and think he's somewhere in the middle.
Faina, if I could get away next month, I'd love to meet up with you in Vegas, but my order for a clone still hasn't been filled, much to my family's disappointment(the clone will cook gourmet meals and never drag them away to a boring vacation place). ha, J.

Jetset, picture a big guy in shorts freezing his behind off wearing shorts at the end of November
I live in San Francisco, so if you're in the area post a get-together offer (make us an offer we can't refuse, quoting the Godfather).

Faina.. I'm nervous here. Just what does the gtg host have to do, besides organize the attendees.. could I just show up with a purse full of cash and buy some drinks, or what?
I will go to the website and peruse the pictures. If no one appears too deranged, I'll consider being brave enough to attend. I may wear a disguise. I was thinking noisy leather pants and a black short wig and huge sunglasses, so as not to attract the wrong type! hahahahahahahahah, J.

I have no idea how a gtg gets organized (counting my blessings
Oh, no, please, no leather pants, or I'll have to turn into a Muffin Eater! Is this why you're going to Napa - to get local olive oil?
Search for all San Francisco get-togethers both here and on Europe - don't remember on which one Marylin posted both URLs, I've been to 2 of them. It's fun!

Oooohhhh.............thaaaat Kal!!!!!!!
The scientist that can't figure out what possible use we could get out of that godforesaken rainy rock. Is it true, has Josselin really closed his flagship? Say it aint so. A Pacific Cafe has become our heartbreak return as we visited all of his Maui/Kauai, remember when he had the Beach House.....remember when they were all remarkable. Thought I'd try to meet Faineagain at 808 in Vegas,,,,,,but it the original is lost??? Bad day for an amazing chef that couldn't manage...Welcome home Mr and Mrs!! I am sure you are no more the wiser in why people waste their time and money on that island!!! Hanalei Beach House in August......why, why would I waste my money and time?!!!

Yes, drinks sound great!! We're getting in at 5:30 on the 26th.
Maybe if we drop Kal's name at the appropriate gin mill, we'll get an extra jigger of rum in one of those "foo-foo" drinks. We'd love to hear about all the neat things you did. You will be able to recognize me -- I'll be wearing the flowered shirt.
Waiting for his trip report.
