Where has sprung actually sprung in America?

I want to go on a short notice long weekend trip this month. I am so tired of bare trees and brown grass in my home town. I think it has been 6 months since I have seen a green leaf on a tree or a flower outside. I am also so tired of cold weather, wind and grey skies. I know somewhere out there spring has sprung.

No, I am not interested in visiting Florida, AZ or California. While I sure the weather may be warm in these places, I find the scenery to be dusty. There is never the real feeling of spring in these places, like out east. The trees in those places are a dusty green year around.

Where in the Southeast United States are the trees this weekend (or next) busting out in that fresh yellow green, the Azaleas in full color, Dogwoods coming out, flowers blooming and the grass actually green? Any place yet or am I still early?

Come south. This weekend is the big spring home and garden tour in Savannah -

Spring has indeed sprung. Visit Savannah or Charleston this weekend. If you are coming in a week or two then further north Atlanta or similar would work too. We aren't in full bloom - yet.

High today of 78 degrees in Atlanta nd the weekend will be in the 80's. Warmer on the coast.

Spring is here in Texas. It's a little early for the bluebonnets but trees and flowers are budding out everywhere. I'd suggest Austin and the Hill Country area around Austin.

The azaleas are just about at max, the Bradford pears will be full this weekend and we have a "Ribfest" this Saturday. Hilton Head Island.

Daffodils are up, forsythia and trees are blooming, but the weather is still cool here in Seattle.

Ditto for Portland. Flowers and trees blooming everywhere. A bit drizzly, and still cool to cold.

I second the votes for Central TX. The wildflowers are beautiful and the scenery is not dusty, as you mentioned above.

The greenery in Florida, AZ and California is NOT "dusty all year round"! Have you lived in all three states for a full year? No? Well, how about that.

I would respectfully offer that right now the San Francisco Bay Area is BEAUTIFUL in its spring... which has sprung. It's not dry at all.. this is "wet" season (we have two: wet and dry). it's not wet by east coast standards, but right now in the Woodside, CA area, it's green, lush, bright, and everything's in bloom.

Spring has sprung in Victoria, BC--we've got daffodils, tulips and cherry blossoms galore--definitely not the great white north!

East Tennessee is springing. The Bradford Pears popped out very suddenly. Daffodils are in bloom, and the weeds in my yard need to be mowed already.

But don't come this weekend. It's race weekend so 160,000 people are trekking to Bristol.

Ah, the first day of spring in Toronto!

As usual, charming clumps of brown snow are still nestled in the shady corners of the garden. Here and there, hints of early-blooming day-glo green tennis balls can be seen, set off beautifully by a scattering of wind-blown and frozen-into-place supermarket flyers. The impatient gardener will have the sparkle in his eye matched by the sparkle of crushed plastic bottles peeping up from beneath the muck. A scattering of frozen dog poop adds cachet to this charming early-spring Toronto garden!

Virginia is too far away from springtime to consider. OBXgirl - I did read the post and agree that they've got to be posted by the same person, just 3 years apart. Would that be a problem to use different names?

Dallas, Texsas. The trees have leaves; most of the flowering trees have finished blooming. My allergies are KILLING me.
