I am not loving it so much these days because we have been vandalized 5 times in the last month. I have to resort to putting a surveillance camera on my house. Police think its teenagers. Keep me in your thoughts that it ends now, I need sleep and peace of mind!!

Never heard of such a thing in MH..
I am very sorry..this is not typical and 5 times in a month sounds like someone who knows your schedule..please put those security cameras up immediately..and you can get those rat bastards!
Do you have a big dog?
I wish you all the best!

TT,
You would be surprise, I have heard many reports this week of similar problems. MH has a recurring vandalism and burglary problem and no police nighttime patrol. It would be great to catch them, but with children my concern is deterrence.
So any money I was going to spend on vacation this summer is now being spent on surveillance camera system. (its going to be about 6-10k) So I told the kids this summer our vacation is going to consist of putting beach towels on our lawn and looking at our surveillance cameras. Neighborhood outpouring of support has been wonderful. Although we are being targeted, police believe it is not because of who were are but rather just where we live.
Drive into LJ to drop child off at school looked great, maybe its time I move. Thanks TT for thinking of us.

We also vacation in Utah. It is only 1.5 hour flight with world class skiing etc. I go there 8-10 times a year. San Francisco is my other favorite destination. Cabo is a great beach trip. Also love Seattle/Vancouver and Sante Fe/Taos.
Welcome to San Diego! It is really fabulous here. La Jolla is wonderful but there are many many gorgeous areas...Coronado, Mission Hills, Point Loma/La Playa, Del Mar, Solana Beach, Rancho Santa Fe, etc... I take about 15 trips a year for recreation which really shows my travel bug because this is NOT a place one needs to get away from. I feel like I am on vacation just living here; and, we even have cruises departing right from our harbor.

I am on my third margarita this evening wandering through this website & I saw a question about where TahitaTams has been & it bothered me a bit so here's my input.
If any of you folks want info on San Diego or So Ca then Barbara or TahitaTams are absolutely great sources of info -period!
If I had the money to move any where in the U.S. San Diego would be my first choice - period!
Crowded, I never seen a large city so easy to navigate as San Diego.
Places to visit, jump in the car and be in Yosemite Natl Park, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon Natl Pk, Oregon or North Calif coast, Vineyards of Napa Valley or Sonoma, the 21 Calif Missions. etc., etc. etc. in a matter of hours.

I agree with the last poster...San Diego has everything so you don't need to go anywhere!
We've owned a 2nd home in Mission Valley for a few years while our son was in college. Its been a great destination spot for us to visit (we live in LA). We've enjoyed the beaches, shopping, theatre, zoo, museums...year round because the weather is so comfortable.
We'll miss San Diego when he graduates next year and we'll sell the house and hopefully find somewhere as nice as San Diego to invest in!

Normally when you click on someone's names you can see all his or her recent posts. But when I clicked on TahitiTams, it said it could not be found. I am wondering if she was removed from the board, which is surprising. I had found her to be really helpful and positive too.

I'm not from S.D., but from Pasadena and we go to Hawaii, Mexico, S.E.Asia... A LOT -especially Thailand, and up the coast as far up as Washington State. And of course, we still go to Europe.
And to the person above, speaking of the Jersey attitude...I had to laugh aloud because a best friend of mine, who's a native Pasadenean, was telling me that her sister, who's lived in S.D. forever, had a friend visit her from Jersey nearly went crazy. She said here her sister's friend was in "chilled out" S.D. with all this aggression and also was trying to bargain people down on everything. I told her I understood exactly what she was saying especially since two of by closest friends are from Jersey and I'm constanly on them when they come to visit. There are just some things that may be accepted as fine in Jersey that are just considered downright not acceptable here. When in Rome,do as the Roamns. Happy Travels!

I hear ya being from SD myself...but I found that if you go to spots like Hawaii or Tahiti you feel wowed by the beauty of the islands. On the other hand you can also go to the Redwoods in Nor Cal and hike the forests...simply amazing OR even Yosemite!! Have fun and let me know what you choose.

Yes, San Diego my Hometown. What a great place to be born and live.
I don't want to get personal, however, I hope you have a very good income, because La Jolla is extremely expensive. San Diego as a whole is expensive but La Jolla homes are in the six figures all the time. There are some lovely areas in San Diego that can still be reasonable. The clue is anything west of highway 101 is expensive or maybe I should say anything on the beach or with a view. Good Luck
As for vacations, I have been all over the world, you can go to any place you would like, so being located in San Diego will not deture you from adventuring out to anywhere you like.
Mexico is close and very charming, but further down from the border, like the Mexican Riviera.
Enjoy my City.
