Where can we go for great views in MN?

We go to Pelican Rapids every year, and have done a lot of sightseeing. We'd like to know if you have other good sightseeing for us. Can you help us?

No, but you brought back memories! My Mom is from Greenbush (look that one up, LOL!) and whenever we drove there from WI for visits, Pelican Rapids would be a rest stop for us.

I am no expert on Minnesota, but we really enjoyed exploring the North Shore of Lake Superior. There are a lot of resorts clustered in and around Grand Marais, lots of good hiking, and of course "the big lake" is lovely.

Lutsen Mountains has superb views from atop Moose Mountain. You pay to take the gondola up the mtn. This is near the town of Tofte on the north shore of Lake Superior.

I agree with NewbE, lots to see at the north shore. WE were there in September and had awesome day trips from our lodge.

Where are you coming from? If you're driving north to Pelican stop at Inspiration Peak just north of Alexandria.

If you have not been up the North Shore of Lake Superior I would highly recommend the drive. It is beautiful and much of the drive is along the lake. Lutsen Mtns. definitely had sone great view of Lake Superior from Moose Mtn. I also think Grand Marais is a really beautiful little town right on the lake. Grand Marais also has a lot of restaurants and shops down near the lake. Duluth also has a lot of sightseeing now days down in Canal Park.

Thank you for the great sightseeing ideas. We have been to Duluth, and loved it. Can't wait to go back. North Shore may be the destination for us this year. Already looking forward to the great views. Thanks !

Love the North shore too!! I used to vacation there with my kids many years ago. We always stayed around the Lutsen area and at least back then, there were activities and a lift open to the top of Lutsen mountain. Pretty spectacular views from there.

Ah, I see there is still plenty to do there in the summer still. Enjoy!!

Well, why not be daring and canoe into the Boundary Waters. I've been twice, once over the border into Canada establishing a base camp. You will get a work out paddling and portaging from lake to lake...and then resting each evening by a campfire. There is a serene beauty in the wilderness where you hear loons and see deer. Outfitters in Ely can provide all supplies needed.
