We were just in Australia in December, so that gave the old time-off bank a severe hit. Hopefully though we'll go somewhere late in the year. The front runners right now are Italy, Romania or S. Germany. Bhutan (believe it or not) was and still is my top choice, but the budget's going to push that trip out until at least '05.

Our 2003 plan got all messed up, so we are trying to stick to our 2004 trips:
Jan -- Oahu, Kauai, Maui (good start)
March -- LA (hobby convention)
April -- Trinidad in N. CA (quiet time)
May -- LA (graduation party)
August -- Lake Tahoe (hot car show)
October -- Japan & China
December -- Philly & New York (first white holiday with family)
I dream about this in my sleep!

DH wants to go to Nova Scotia, working on this. I want to move on to Newfoundland and Labrador as well, looking for a cruise. Right now plan to fly.
To the person going to the wedding in Harrison AK is that Alaska or Arkansas?
DH just received a birthday card that was addressed to AK (Alaska) instead of
AR (Arkansas) it was mailed from Memphis in November! I wish I knew where it has travelled to in the past 3 months. PO cannot explain why the zip code wasn't helpful?

Looks like we may be the only ones traveling in June. We are going to fly to CA, rent a car and pick up our 10 yr old granddaughter in Pomona and take a trip to Las Vegas and on up to Yellowstone Park for a two week vacation. We will be going the last couple of weeks in June. Don't know what we will be doing the rest of the time. Since my husband is retired and I am not he is going to Ireland, England, Scotland on a tour and try to drive the Lewis and Clark trail this year.

Are these people really serious? Perhaps extremely financially independant?
I've scanned this thread off and on and truly felt dejected that SO many posters are taking 6-8 major vacations in one year!
I'm almost embarrased to admit I can only afford the time and money for one trip, one that I'm very excited about even if it is only a 2 week cruise to Europe. $-)

For the record, I am not independently wealthy but I do work for myself. That means I work hard when I am working and make plenty of time for trips.
Home exchange has enabled me to take many more trips than I would normally take because I do not pay for housing or a car. The main expense on swaps is airfare.
Elderhostel is another way to travel modestly. They have trips for every budget and taste. One of your party must be 55 but you can, for example, take an adult child with you if you are 55. There are also trips for grandparents to enjoy with grandchildren.
Many people traveling a lot are older and have accumulated money and/or are no longer working.
Now back to work to earn money for the trips. . . .

I'm with Rosemary - feeling sorry for myself. All along I thought the old saying, "You either have time OR money" was true. You lucky posters who have both! With that self-pitying statement, an answer to the question.
We are lucky enough to be going to:
March - The Abaco Islands
July - South Dakota
August - Boundry Waters of Minnesota/Canada
October - New York City

"Many" people? I disagree. If you make traveling a priority, then time and money can work themselves out. My husband and I are in our 30's, both work full-time, own a home (with a mortgage), but we travel a lot. We use FF miles, save $$$ for travel, take short trips, use priceline, whatever we need to do.

Agree with Tansy. When we were in our 30s supporting a family (including mom) and making mortgage payments, we couldn't afford to fly, so we drove everywhere (24 hours drive to cross the borders was nothing) and stayed with relatives/friends. Now we don't go for fancy cars and expensive jewellery, but save the money for trips.
Everyone is different, a cousin of mine is financially better off than us, but does not travel more than 60 miles from her home, and is content to view our trip photos and videos.

Wow! Must be nice ~gt; So many of you have MONTHLY trips!
From Canada. Took a quick "visiting friends" drive down & back to South Carolina in January.
Going to Ireland / Northern Ireland in a week.
Going for the weekend to Detroit (of all places!) Woodward car show in August.
