ncgirl, how do you know the driver of that truck was a Yankee? Actually, the manouver is one that I saw all over California! (Besides, Yankees drive SUVs or BMWs or Camry's more often than trucks).

Maybe the question shouldn't be so much what area has the worst drivers as on what highways you have you found the worst driving -- and I'll start by nominating the WashDC beltway.

Glendale, California. They lowered the speed limit to 30 mph and the residents are still getting pulled over for driving too slow.

Koreatown, L.A.. Need I say more?

Behind a person on a cell phone in a Mercedes in anytown USA. They have very expensive turn signals that are never used, and why they need to hog two lanes and create a Parchessi block is beyond me.

Yes Soccr the DC beltway is horrible. There are so many aggressive drivers using that road that I hate to have to drive on it to Reston.

Today I was driving and an 18 wheeler just about clobbered three separate cars - and each time he shook his fist at them. None of these drivers had pulled in front of him - he just pulled behind them and wanted them out of his way.

And to add to that - 3 out of 5 vehicle drivers have cell phones to their ear while driving!!

This is such a funny thread! OK, I'll bite!

Anywhere in Asia except Singapore; a lot of the big cities in Europe; New ork; and California.

One of my first experiences was in Rome where I was riding with a Tibetan driving. He was extremely aggressive, squeezing into spaces that didn't exist. I couldn't believe this normally mild man could turn into a driving fiend once behind the wheel! lo!

And California has all those Asians who come over from Asia and drive the way they do at home: they follow you on the freeway about two inches from your car and going 60 mph, make left turns from the right lane, make U-turns over bumper dividers, and talk incessantly waving both arms around - and that's just the men! The women sit so low you can barely see their heads!

Once in New York, a New Yorker friend of mine said that those drivers who were making all those crazy illegal moves were all Jewish men wearing hats. Sure enough! The next person making a crazy move turned out to be a man in a hat (don't know if he was Jewish or not!)

So I told my friend that, in California, the equivalent of the Jewish man in a hat is the Asian woman you can't see behind the wheel.

Not to be outdone, he asked me why Californians resemble a box of cereal?

Why?

Because after you shake out the nuts and fruits, what are you left with? The flakes!

And to the good looking guy in the BMW I almost hit yesterday when I foolishly tried to make a left turn from the wrong lane (I didn't realize it was a 1 way street!)... I'm sorry! I truly an not the world's worse driver!

I do believe that Miami has to top the list as having the rudist, most agressive drivers in the U.S. However, has anybody driven on the island of Trinidad?...TERRIBLE driver's!!

Worst - MA and Virginia. Must be a Commonwealth thing. Next time you're in VA, notice they all tap their brakes when they go over a small bridge or overpass.

Best - CA. They drive fast, but they drive well. I like it there because if you're 6th in line at a traffic light, you can hit your accelerator as soon as the light changes because everyone else is hitting theirs.
