When to visit honolulu?
My boyfriend and I are making a trip to Oahu for 4-5 days to visit some friends. We would like to go before July. Any suggestions on what months we can get the best flight deals, and what weather to expect?
We want to surf and snorkel while there.

I followed this strategy and got this outstanding deal: $350 RT - Atlanta to Honolulu
It is simply - go to Travelocity (or Expedia) and tell it to start tracking airfares.
After watching the rates go up and down for a while (ideally, several months), you'll know when a great deal appears.
When it happens, purchase it immediately since I've seen rates go down one day about double the next day.
Good luck

(I love people who reply to their reply ;-)
www.farecompare.com will show you historical pricing for the airlines tickets you want so you know a good deal when it appears.

I would go between mid-April and mid-June ... wonderful *everything* at that time, not as crowded with kids as later in Summer, hotels & flights more reasonable, fruit and flowers delightful, weather perfect ... warm but not HOT yet! I love that time in year in the Islands ...

Agreed April thru' early June.
This year we couldn't leave before mid June.
The "specials" were all for travel ending before the end of the first week in June. Ouch
I'd try for travel sometime late April thru' May if airfare is the most important factor.

For me, there's not a bad time of the year to come over here... although there are more expensive and less expensive times.
All in all, I would go with March through the first of June. Its less crowded, less busy. You'll typically find better rates, if you are possibly staying in a vacation rental... the owners usually get a lot more flexible during this time. They have a more difficult time during this period of keeping their home occupied.
A promotional company on Oahu just announced the other day that they were going to be giving away a free trip for two to Hawaii in 2008. They haven't given much in the form of details yet, but they are letting people register for it already.

Flights seem to be a lot cheaper on Tuesdays by 100$. May is the only time I've went. It was the last week in May, i was awoken at 11:00 p.m or 12:00 AM people were waving their hands out of trolleys, screaming and ringing the trolley bells on Waikiki. At first I thought it was a fire, or God forbid, another pearl Harbor; but after thinking in between the ruckus, it was only graduation.
