When should I make airline reservations for a December trip to Kauai?
We have an offer to share a condo the first week of December. We live in the Midwest, and right now, the best ticket I can find from KC into Kauai is about $900. How long should I keep looking for tickets, hoping that they will go down. I cashed in all my miles for a trip to Germany, so miles are not an option. I am bankrupt in that regard. Thanks, PJK

Aloha PJK..
I just plugged in a week from Saturday to Saturday the first week of December on Expedia.com and it came up with $790 pp.. I find that after midnight on Tuesday, the airlines seem to dump alot of their inventory and I have found some incredible deals this way and I am always checking between Expedia, cheaptickets.com and going direct too..
Good luck!

I've already made reservations for Maui in February. As I was pricing I found a significant difference when comparing a Saturday to Saturday trip versus a Tuesday to Tuesday trip - the latter was cheaper. From Columbus to Maui was $670 each total. I would think it would be a bit less from KC but then, perhaps December is more expensive.

TahitiTams, the opposite seemed to be true when I was looking for trips. I've heard many times that staying over Saturday was a key. So I thought getting there on Saturday would qualify, but not seemingly so. Arriving midweek and leaving midweek was cheaper. Maybe the rule is: "There are no rules!" ?
